Dying Matters Week

The way we talk about Dying Matters

Join us from 6 to 12 May, as we talk openly about death and dying.

Dying Matters Awareness Week takes place this year from 6 to 12 May, led by Hospice UK’s Dying Matters campaign. Throughout the week, people across the country will come together to encourage communities to get talking about death, dying, and grief. The theme of Dying Matters Week 2024, is: the way we talk about Dying Matters

This year we’ll be:

  • Kicking off Monday 6 May,  we’ll be hosting an art exhibition by local photographer Abi Humphries in our Heart of the Hospice Cafe. Abi’s mother and grandmother spent time at Prospect Hospice during Abi’s teenage years. Now a photography student at the University of Bath, Abi uses her art to channel these experiences. Everyone is welcome: Art from the Heart.
  • Thursday 9 May, meet our clinical team, ask them about the hospice and any questions around Death and Dying.
  • From Monday 6 May, in all our shops we’ll be asking our customers what they’d like to know about death and dying, and using these questions as a spring board to launch conversations around difficult subjects.
  • Monday 20 May: What happens when we die? You’re invited to an hour-long session with our clinical team, with lots of time for Q&A. Sign up now: www.prospect-hospice.net/DMW. With an optional tour of the hospice after the session.

Keep an eye out on our website and our socials for more updates, events, and resources.
