Prospect Hospice is the leading provider of education and training for end-of-life care in Swindon and north Wiltshire. Working closely with you, our colleagues within partner organisations, we want to ensure that the very best care is available to everyone facing the end of life. This is why we provide education and development opportunities, all of which aim to encourage learning and build confidence in end of life care and support.
Musician Clarry Bean from Swindon is set to release a poignant Christmas song, written in memory of his late wife Christine, and has taken delivery of 1,000 CDs that he hopes to sell in a bid to raise funds for charities Prospect Hospice and Vasculitis UK.
The song, Christmas (The Way It’s Meant To Be), was written by Clarry and songwriting partner Andy Merryweather in memory of Clarry’s late wife Christine, a gifted singer herself, who died at Prospect Hospice just before Christmas last year. Clarry performs the song, with additional vocals from son Danny and daughter Abby, who were pleased to join him in raising money for the two charities that supported Christine at the end of her life.
Clarry hopes that the single will sell in enough quantities to raise money to help both charities continue their good work. He says: “It’s a song that on first listen will resonate and connect with anyone who has lost a loved one. It’s a song about love and bravery, a song of inspiration. Through her incredible attitude, my beautiful wife inspired so many people: family, friends and medical professionals alike. It’s our hope that this song will also have a positive impact on the lives of people who hear it and engage with the words, and that Christine’s spirit will be carried far and wide by its message.”
The CD release will feature an exclusive second track, which will be a remixed version of Christine’s 2007 recording on Sting’s Fields of Gold, featuring Clarry and Danny on vocal harmonies, and with newly recorded piano accompaniment by Sheila Harrod. This track will only be available on the CD and, unlike Christmas (The Way’s It’s Meant To Be), not as a digital download. Hollie Ricketts, our Community Fundraiser, said: “We are delighted that Clarry has chosen to support Prospect Hospice with his very moving tribute to Christine, and we are hopeful that the single will be a Christmas hit when it is released on 7 December.”
