Prospect Hospice is the leading provider of education and training for end-of-life care in Swindon and north Wiltshire. Working closely with you, our colleagues within partner organisations, we want to ensure that the very best care is available to everyone facing the end of life. This is why we provide education and development opportunities, all of which aim to encourage learning and build confidence in end of life care and support.
Paul Gee was cared for by Prospect Hospice earlier this year and was a well-loved member of his community.
Since he died in August his family and friends organised a Rock n’ Roll bingo night in his memory, which has raised £1656.71
The organisers, Suki and Vicky along with Jan and Shannon, Paul’s wife and daughter said that they had a fantastic evening and was overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity. They mentioned that the support from everyone was a true reflection of how much Paul meant to everyone and how well loved and respected he was.
They would like to thank Redhouse Club in Purton for their support and offering the use of their facilities, to Suki’s mum who made Indian style snacks to sell, to all local businesses and everyone who provided raffle prizes, including Paul’s local pub, the Jovial Monk.
They also would like to thank Run Swindon for their top prize goodie bag, and finally to everyone who went along on the night and made it a great success.
The prize winner of the Run Swindon goodie bag was a gentleman from the Slinn Allstars running club. He discovered the bag contained a pair of women’s running tights. He vowed to wear the tights at the next running meeting, as long as people donated more into the Prospect Hospice bucket. The meeting was a success and saw the gentleman wear the tights for a run around Swindon, resulting in more funds being raised in memory of Paul.
Jan, Paul’s wife mentioned that the family would like to thank everyone at Prospect Hospice for the treatment and care Paul received at the hospice, she said: “It was outstanding.”
Community fundraiser Hollie Ricketts added: “On behalf of Prospect Hospice I would like to thank everyone who helped to organise the event, support it or attended on the night.”
