Working closely with you, our colleagues within partner organisations, we want to ensure that the very best care is available to everyone facing the end of life. This is why we provide education and development opportunities, all of which aim to encourage learning and build confidence in end of life care and support.
Eight-year-old Gracie Jefferies kindly brought in a donation of £100 for Prospect Hospice by making and selling loom bands.
Young supporter Gracie popped into the hospice with her mum and her grandparents to present a cheque for £100 to the hospice. She has been making loom bands for over six months and selling them to her mum’s beauty clients and in school. She asked for a small donation in return for the bands and so was thrilled to learn she had raised so much money. She chose to support the hospice as her nan, Mary, receives regular rest bite care from the hospice and attends Day Therapy once a week. Her Granddad, John, also attends our Carers Support once a month.
Gracie said of her fundraising: “Twisting all the loom bands made my fingers go blue; I sometimes twisted six in one go! Since I started making them I have emptied a big tub full of loom bands to make the key chains – I have used thousands. I chose to raise money because my nanny and Granddad are looked after here, and when I come to visit I like to play with my baby cousin in the hospice playroom.”
“I couldn’t feel prouder of my Gracie,” said her mum, Alison, “raising £100 for Prospect Hospice where her nanny goes for respite and granddad for carers support. It’s a very special memory.”
Community Fundraiser Hollie Ricketts said “I would like to say a huge thank you on behalf of everyone at Prospect Hospice for Gracie’s fantastic donation, and for her support of the hospice. We all think she is a superstar fundraiser! We are also glad to hear she enjoys our playroom when she visits us. Thank you Gracie.”
