Prospect Hospice is the leading provider of education and training for end-of-life care in Swindon and north Wiltshire. Working closely with you, our colleagues within partner organisations, we want to ensure that the very best care is available to everyone facing the end of life. This is why we provide education and development opportunities, all of which aim to encourage learning and build confidence in end of life care and support.
Parents of children wishing to pound the pavement in support of a local charity have until the 31 October to sign up and secure their tickets at an early bird rate.
Prospect Hospice has introduced the Kids’ Starlight Walk after participants at their annual Starlight Walk wanted to bring their children along to the event but found the late start and finish times weren’t convenient.
Amy Francombe, community and events manager at Prospect Hospice, said: “Starlight Walk is our flagship event and from the feedback we receive each year, we know people really enjoy it, especially when they share their experience with friends and family. Over the years, many of them have said how much they’d like their children to join them so they can also help raise vital funds for the charity so this year we decided to do something about it.
“Finishing at midnight isn’t ideal when you have young children so we’ve introduced this event to our calendar in February so children can enjoy the magic of the Starlight Walk but have plenty of time to complete it, enjoy their cake and hot chocolate and be back at home ready for their usual bedtime.”
While not mandatory, those taking part are also encouraged to dress up in their brightest outfits to ensure the event is as colourful as possible.
The first Prospect Hospice Kids’ Starlight Walk takes place on Sunday 9 February 2020 and begins at 4pm. The walk includes a 5km circular walk which begins at Lethbridge Primary School and ends at the Town Gardens. Tickets are available via the hospice website and are priced at just £8 for children until the end of October. Adults are priced at just £5. From 1 November, ticket prices for children will increase to £12 with adult tickets remaining at £5.
