A beautiful 42 foot cedar tree has once again lit up the night sky in the beautiful village of Broad Hinton over the Christmas period, bringing plenty of festive cheer. This year the dazzling display, which can be seen from Hackpen Hill, will serve a special purpose – raising vital funds for Prospect Hospice thanks to local resident Alex Wholmes.
Supporting Prospect Hospice was an easy decision for Alex, given the increasing financial challenges they face.
She said: “Following the overwhelming generosity demonstrated during the 2016 Broad Hinton Open Gardens event, residents were encouraged to donate to the hospice this Christmas season. We were so happy with the response. We’ve now raised over £1,000.”
“The challenges facing hospices are significant,” says Jeremy Lune, CEO of Prospect Hospice. “We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of our community. It’s truly inspiring to see the imaginative ways our supporters find to help the hospice. Alex’s beautifully decorated tree is a perfect example of this – bringing joy to the local community while raising vital funds for Prospect. Thank you, Alex, and to everyone who has generously donated.”
In a heartwarming gesture, Hi-lite Roof and Gutter Maintenance Ltd. generously offered to donate their time and expertise by using their S-spider lift to safely and efficiently hang the Christmas lights.
Alex shared her heartwarming story with Jono Fido from BBC Radio Wiltshire, you can hear more below…
