Hospice Care

We’re proud to announce the launch of the “This is Hospice Care” campaign, a groundbreaking collaboration between 143 hospices across England, Scotland, and Wales, brought together by Hospice UK.

1 in 7 of our patients is cared for thanks to gifts in wills. The government provides less than 25% of our funding – the rest comes from our amazing local community – that’s people like you.

Every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference. It’s your generosity that helps us to provide specialist care for those with life-limiting illnesses.

For 45 years we’ve been dedicated to providing outstanding, tailored end-of-life care and support to our community. But this care and support wouldn’t exist without people like you. A gift in your will helps us continue to offer compassionate, free care to around 3,000 people and their families each year. Will you help us make sure that we can be there for everyone who needs us now and in the future.

We’ve created a free Making a Will Guide to help you get started. This guide provides simple steps, inspiring stories, and all the information you need to make a lasting difference. Plus, you can find out more about how our partnership with Octopus Legacy, which allows you to write your will for free

The difference a gift in your will makes to local people

When you leave a gift in your will to Prospect Hospice, you help ease the pain and burden for local people at the end of their lives.

The day before my mother passed away we had such beautiful weather that we moved her bed out onto the patio. We sat her up in her bed so she was lying with nature all around her and could listen to the birds singing. The whole experience was extraordinary and we spent all afternoon out there. To be able to give her the opportunity to breathe fresh air and have the sense of nature around her was a real privilege and in stark contrast to our experience of the hospital. I know she couldn’t have wished for a better ending.

Prospect Hospice isn’t just there for patients, it’s there for their families too. I’ve never seen people try so hard and have so much compassion and gentleness. It felt like being normal again. I had been petrified for dad to go in, but in fact it was all so peaceful and beautiful.

When my son was born, dad was never confident holding him. He thought he might drop him or make a sudden movement because of the pain in his joints. The new treatment plan the hospice had sorted out for him meant that he finally had the confidence to pick up his grandson and give him a cuddle. For a man who was so dedicated to his family, it was just incredible to see. The hospice gave that to him and I’ll always be so grateful to them for that.
