Prospect Big Swim Challenge terms and conditions

By registering for the Prospect Big Swim Challenge 2023, you have agreed to the following terms and conditions:

  • We ask that everyone is sponsored in aid of Prospect Hospice, with a minimum fundraising target of £100 to help support our services.
  • Participants in this activity do so entirely at their own risk and must rely on their own ability and appropriate swim training to complete the course and in dealing with all hazards and must cover the course in a manner which is safe to themselves and others. Neither Prospect Hospice, its directors/trustees, staff or volunteers, sponsors or Bowmoor Sailing Club or Lechlade and District Lions Club or anyone else involved in or with the organisation of the event shall be held responsible for any accident or injuries or other loss sustained by you before, during or after the challenge.
  • The event is supported by qualified first aiders, please listen and abide by their advice.
  • The event is marshalled, please follow their instructions at all times.
  • All swimmers must behave responsibly and any behaviour deemed unacceptable may result in removal from the challenge.
  • Wearing of wetsuits is highly recommended. You will be issued with an event swimming hat which is compulsory. Flippers and any kind of floatation device are not permitted. Fancy dress is not permitted.
  • For the purposes of safety, anyone the age of 17 years old and under must have written consent from a parent or guardian, given to Prospect Hospice prior to taking part, and a parent or guardian present at the challenge. The minimum age for entry is 12 years of age. The minimum sponsorship to take part applies to all participants.
  • Any medical conditions should be discussed with your GP who should give you their approval in writing for you to take part. Participants must make organisers aware of any medical conditions and bring your GP letter to the challenge.
  • Pregnant participants must discuss the challenge with your GP and gain their written approval for you to take part.
  • No alcohol is to be consumed prior to or during the challenge.
  • Please note that any photography and filming uploaded to the designated social media pages may be used for current and future publicity purposes, unless you have not given the charity permission at the related stage of registration or we have received direct correspondence from you thereafter to withdraw your permissions.
  • You must adhere to any current government social distancing guidelines regarding Covid-19. The Government may potentially change this guidance and you are responsible for keeping yourself updated on the advice.
  • Dogs are permitted with spectators if they are kept safe and comfortable at all times. Owners must clear up after their dog immediately.
  • Registrations are strictly personal, non-transferable, firm and binding, and fees shall not be refunded for any reason.
  • Cancellation is unlikely and the organisers will take all precautions to avoid it, but should cancellation occur for reasons out of the organisers control, then participants will be notified as soon as possible.
  • Should part of the course be unavailable for safety reasons or reasons out of the organisers control, the organisers reserve the right to adjust the course or cancel where necessary.
  • By entering the Prospect Big Swim Challenge with Prospect Hospice, you are deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions and confirmed that you are medically fit to participate.
