For more than 40 years, we’ve been a dedicated, non-hospital, end-of-life care service for patients and their loved ones - around the clock, every day of the year. Our mission is to ensure that anyone can access the best possible expert care whenever and wherever they need it – whether at the hospice or in their own home. As a charity, we only exist because of the generosity and support of our amazing local community.

Mel Buckley, CNS Team Leader, Single Point of Contact & NMP Lead at Prospect Hospice, Swindon, has been awarded the prestigious title of Queen’s Nurse (QN) by The Queen’s Nursing Institute (QNI), the UK’s leading charity for community nursing.
The Queen’s Nurse title is indicates a commitment to high standards of patient care, learning and leadership. Nurses who hold the title benefit from developmental workshops, bursaries, networking opportunities, and a shared professional identity and signifies dedication to exceptional patient care, lifelong learning, and leadership within the community nursing field.
“On behalf of the QNI, I would like to extend my congratulations to Mel and welcome her as a Queen’s Nurse,” said Dr. Crystal Oldman CBE, Chief Executive of the QNI. “Queen’s Nurses play a vital role in leading and inspiring others within community nursing, delivering high-quality healthcare across the country. The application and assessment process for this title is rigorous, requiring a clear commitment to patient-centred care. We look forward to working with Mel and all new Queen’s Nurses this year.”
Mel attended the award ceremony on Friday 29 November, at the Hotel Millenium Gloucester Hotel, London, she said: “I am really proud and honoured to become a Queen’s Nurse. Friday evening was without question the most incredible moment of my nursing career so far. I am really looking forward to learning from and working alongside my fellow Queen’s Nurses, whilst continuing to champion community palliative and end of life care in the community, ensuring excellence in holistic patient centred care, learning and leadership”
