A local charity is inviting the community to ‘Light Up a Life’ and remember those special to them this Christmas.
Prospect Hospice’s Light up a Life service, which has been running for over twenty years, offers an opportunity for people to come together to remember the lives of those who can’t be with us at what can be a difficult time of year for many experiencing loss.
The hospice is asking for people who would like to book their place and submit dedications of loved ones to do so by Friday 17 November in order for them to be included in the hospice’s book of remembrance.
The charity will be holding its local special remembrance services on Sunday 3 December at 2.30 pm and 4pm at Christ Church, Old Town, Swindon.
Last year, over 400 people came together in grief, remembrance and in celebration of the people they love, miss and hold in their hearts.
Jaqui Gullis, Clinical Lead – Therapy Services at Prospect Hospice, said: “Every Christmas our Light Up a Life appeal is warmly embraced by the local community. We understand that the festive season can be a difficult time. Light up a Life was specifically designed to create a meaningful space and time for honouring and giving thanks for the lives of those who will always be in our hearts and memories.
“You don’t have to have experienced our hospice care to join our services. When our lanterns are lit up, they are a beautiful reminder of those special people and represent the lives of people who are greatly missed and fondly remembered.”
Donations made in memory of loved ones when adding their names and your messages to the charity’s book of remembrance are greatly appreciated by the hospice to fund its work in providing end of life care to people and offer support to their loved ones.
