Prospect Hospice is the leading provider of education and training for end-of-life care in Swindon and north Wiltshire. Working closely with you, our colleagues within partner organisations, we want to ensure that the very best care is available to everyone facing the end of life. This is why we provide education and development opportunities, all of which aim to encourage learning and build confidence in end of life care and support.
Generous local freemasons have given a financial boost to Prospect Hospice by fundraising throughout the year and with a Ladies’ Night event in November.
Prospect Hospice was the chosen charity for the George, Duke of Kent Masonic Lodge, who they supported during the year-long term of master Mike Leighfield, and their activity throughout the year led to the £2,000 donation made to two of the fundraising team at the lodge’s Christmas dinner event.
Mike and wife Marilyn are long-standing, passionate supporters for the care his late brother received with us many years ago. Since then, we have cared for other members of Mike and Marilyn’s family and their friends and Mike says he will always choose Prospect hospice as he believes it’s one of the most worthwhile causes to support in the town.
Hollie Ricketts, our community fundraiser was delighted to receive a cheque from Mike Leighfield and John Palmer at the Lodge’s annual Christmas event. “I would like to say a huge thank you to Mike for his fantastic support of the hospice, and to everyone at the George, Duke of Kent Lodge for their generous donations towards the work of Prospect Hospice,” she said. “It means that we can continue to offer our unparalleled end-of-life care to people who need it across Swindon, Marlborough and north-east Wiltshire.”
The Ladies’ Night event, which was also held at the lodge in November last year, was fantastically organised by Marilyn Leighfield, Mike and Marilyn’s daughter, Louise Chivers and friend Jo Hearne. It was a great night and was also another fundraising success, raising a further £1,650 for the hospice.
Hollie was also keen to thank everyone who helped raise the funds at the Ladies’ Night event. “I would like to thank everyone at the George, Duke of Kent Masonic Lodge for their ongoing support for Prospect Hospice, to Marilyn Leighfield, Louise Chivers and Jo Hearne for organising the event, to the local businesses for their generous donations and to HSBC bank for their match funding.”
