It may only be August but the festive spirit is already in full swing at a local charity as they proudly presented the winner of their ‘Design a Christmas card’ competition recently.
Ten-year-old artistic Matilda Palmer captured hearts and imaginations with her endearing portrayal of two reindeer in a snowy wonderland which dazzled the Prospect Hospice judges.
“We were absolutely blown away by Matilda’s artwork,” said Victoria Canavan, head of retail at Prospect Hospice. “Her drawing of the reindeer captures the joy and magic of Christmas in a truly enchanting way. Her card will bring warmth and cheer to all who will see it.”
“Matilda’s artistic journey began at a young age when she first picked up a crayon, and her love for drawing blossomed from there.” explains Matilda’s mum, Rachel. “When her nanny, who volunteers in the Prospect Hospice charity shop in Wroughton, told her about the competition she jumped at the chance to enter.”
As the winner of the charity’s ‘Design a Christmas card’ competition, Matilda received a personalised gift basket as well as five packs of her very own card to give to friends and family.
“I can’t believe I won!” exclaimed Matilda with a beaming smile. “Drawing makes me really happy, and I wanted to make people smile when they see my reindeer. Thank you, Prospect Hospice, for choosing my drawing.”
Prospect Hospice is thrilled to share Matilda’s artwork with the community, spreading joy and holiday cheer to patients, families, and supporters alike. The Christmas card featuring Matilda’s enchanting reindeer scene is now available to purchase for just £4 for a pack of ten, with all proceeds helping the charity provide free end of life care to local people and their families.
You can buy Matilda’s card as well as a range of Christmas cards in all of the Prospect Hospice charity shops or online here.
